Haaga-Helia ammattikorkeakoulu or Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences was created 10 years ago, fruit of the merger between Helsinki Business Polytechnic (business studies) and Haaga Institute Polytechnic (sciences studies). For the tenth anniversary of the creation, the university created several events (conferences, sportive events, sponsoring events, etc.).
Haaga-Helia University counts up around 11 000 students, divided on five campuses and on several study areas such as International Business, Tourism, Sports Managements, multilingual management, business IT. This diversity of programs, the will to become a model of innovation and to deliver high quality education are arguments to attract the best students in Finland but also in the rest of the world. In ten years, Haaga-Helia has developed strong partnerships with universities from foreign countries. For fall semester 2017, there are around 350 exchanges students, came from more than 200 universities.
Haaga-helia values at the heart of studies programs
Delivering high-quality education and being a model of innovation are the two main qualities of Haaga-Helia and they are very present in university daily life. Indeed, the university organizes several events in order to improve these two goals:
- Alumeeting (meeting between alumni and students)
- Visit Finnish companies and discuss with them in what we can help them (for International Business class, we visited UPM Kymmene, a Finnish company delivering forest products, and we created for it business cases to export their activity to other countries)
- The possibility to attend to the Nordic Business Forum: this event, well-known in Nordic countries, deals with entrepreneurship respectful of sustainable development. Speakers are environmental scientists but also founders of companies, artists, athletes, etc.
