The ‘Casa Batllo’ was constructed between 1904 and 1906 by the amazing architect Gaudi, in the famous ‘Passeig de Gracia’ which is a luxurious street of Barcelona.
I visited the ‘Casa Batllo’ when my family went to visit me and it was really amazing. It’s quite expensive because we paid 28€ per person but it’s something to do when you visit Barcelona.
First, the façade is amazing, undulated, coloured, and you can imagine that the roof have the form of the spine column of an aquatic animal. After you enter in, the personal give you a smartphone with headphones to be guided in real time.
You start by coming up the stairs in the form of turtle’s back and you discover the first stage with the main lounge, with a panoramic view of ‘Passeig de Gracia’. When you climb the stairs, you discover step by step a lot of rooms from different colours and forms and the interior’s stairs looks like a cascade; when you climb the stairs, the walls become more and more blue and the windows become smaller. Gaudi reached the goal to have the same amount of light in all the stages. That’s for me so amazing, moreover because with the virtual guide, you learn so many things. Finally, in the roof, you have an amazing view of the city.
In some, the work of Gaudi is coloured, allegorical. This private house animate all the ‘Passeig the Gracia’ and in general, the city. In my opinion, Gaudi is a genius.
